Welcome to Mad Dogs Dance Theatre

Mad Dogs Dance Theatre was founded in 2008 as the company of Douglas Thorpe.

Since its foundation Mad Dogs Dance Theatre have developed its identity as an extremely explosive, powerful and physical dance theatre company with its base in Leeds, UK.

Douglas has been tipped to be one of the most important voices in UK dance for the new decade.

 

During the first years the company have focussed on the production of new work by Douglas Thorpe including works such as ‘Dry Toast’, ‘Beast’ and ‘A mind as beautiful’.

After the success of ‘Beast’ presented as part of Made in Yorkshire (2009) Douglas was commissioned to work with internationally acclaimed ACE Dance & Music and Phoenix Dance Theatre whose work toured extensively throughout the UK and beyond.

Whilst production continues 2010 has seen the company move into a phase of promotion and distribution. Including Dance3 a tour across the UK that showcased the next generation of choreographers.

In addition Douglas has been appointed Associated Artist of Yorkshire Dance as part of its LIFT artist development programme.

Mad Dogs Dance Theatre is supported by a host of producers, managers and partners including DEP Arts ltd, Yorkshire Dance, Space2 and Arts Council England.
